Information for new students joining September 2024 

We are delighted that you will be joining the Master of Global Business (MGB) in September. Below you will find key information to prepare for the start of your  programme. 

Enrolment information

Registration

Registration with the University of Glasgow opens in August. You will receive an email from the University with your:

  1. University email address
  2. Your GUID (unique ID number)
  3. A link to register

Please note you must have accepted your unconditional offer in order to register as a student.

We would encourage you to start the registration process as early as possible.

Enrolment

Enrolment is the process for choosing your courses and classes to build your timetable for the year. You must complete academic registration before you can begin enrolment.  Once you have completed enrolment, you will find your personal timetable on MyCampus.

Getting started

Your Induction Timetable

During Induction we will share with you all the information you need to feel welcomed to the Adam Smith Business School and prepared to start your journey with us, regardless of your subject area.

You can start getting ready to join us by registering and looking at our Glasgow Essentials open access site.

Adam Smith Business School Induction

As you begin your journey with us, you’ll be invited to take part in our induction programme which will run from 16 September 2024, this will help you to:

  • familiarise yourself with the Adam Smith Business School
  • connect with your teaching staff and other students
  • learn about the support services and career development activities available to you.

For your induction you will be provided with a specific timetable for your course. In the timetable you will be provided an outline of the sessions that take place, with details of the format each session will follow and instructions on how you register for specific events.

Compass Onboarding Programme

As a postgraduate student at the Adam Smith Business School, you'll take part in the Compass Onboarding Programme. Our comprehensive programme will guide you throughout your first 100 days and is here to ensure your successful transition and integration into your academic journey. Compass provides the guidance and support you need to navigate your way to academic and professional success at the Adam Smith Business School.

Here are the key steps of Compass:

  • Orientation Week: The programme commences with an engaging Orientation Week, where you'll have the opportunity to meet your academic programme team, classmates, and key support staff. Check out your induction timetable for details. 
  • Micro-Credentials: To enhance your development, Compass includes short micro-credentials which you will be given access to on our Postgraduate Student Information Point. Within the first month, you'll complete sessions covering topics such as using Moodle and systems at Glasgow, academic navigation, careers and community, and wellbeing and student support.
  • Student Communications: Stay informed and engaged with regular updates and communications throughout the onboarding programme. These communications will be sent every two weeks and will highlight key messages, online and on-campus activities, and available resources.
  • Advising Support: Our dedicated advising, coaching, and administration staff will be available throughout the 100-day journey. Look forward to coordinated pop-ups and events that offer personalised support in both one-on-one and group settings.

The Compass Onboarding Programme is more than just an introduction; it is a foundation for your postgraduate success. We are excited to embark on this journey with you and ensure a smooth transition as you begin your academic adventure at the Adam Smith Business School.
