Getting started

General information

We can't wait to see you arrive on campus and your first week is a perfect opportunity to get to know University life. Every PGT course has it's own dedicated induction session where you will hear from academic staff as well as your Student Development coach on how they can support you through your time at Glasgow. You'll also find out more information on the Adam Smith Skills Award, our flagship skills programme. The details of your induction session should have been emailed to you but if not, you'll find them on your timetable!

Please remember that all students must complete the registration process, including both Academic and Financial registration. Once you have completed the academic registration, you can enrol on courses and classes. International students must also attend visa registration after arriving in the United Kingdom.

Compass onboarding

As a student at the Business School, you will take part in the Compass Onboarding Programme. Compass is designed to help you get started, understand how things work at the business school and where to go if you need information or support.

Compass begins with your face-to-face programme induction during Welcome Week. You will then continue to receive support through your first 100 days through:

  • Information and resources on the Postgraduate Student Information Point (PSIP)
  • A series of helpful emails at key points during your first semester; and
  • Information about academic support, opportunities to get involved, and the services available to you

Registration and enrolment

All students, new or returning, must complete both Academic and Financial Registration. Once you are academically registered, you can enrol on courses and classes.

If you are a part-time student, we strongly advise you to complete your enrolment before you complete your financial registration. If you add courses to your academic schedule after completing the financial registration, your fees will be recalculated. It is your responsibility to make sure your fee payment plan is adjusted to cover the fees due.

International students must also attend Visa Registration after arriving in the United Kingdom.

You can find out more information on the University's registration and enrolment pages

PSIP

PSIP is your dedicated online hub for postgraduate taught students at Adam Smith Business School. Designed to support and enhance your learning experience, PSIP brings together the key resources, guidance, opportunities and updates you'll need throughout your studies.

You'll also find news and information relevant to postgraduate students, helping you stay informed and connected with the Business School community. Unless otherwise stated, the information on PSIP is applicable to all postgraduate taught students.

When you begin your student journey, you will be added to the PSIP page. We recommend bookmarking the sharepoint page by selecting the star icon on the homepage, as it will be a valuable resource throughout your time at the University of Glasgow.
