Front of the SGH Warsaw School of Economics building

In May 2023, the University of Glasgow signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SGH Warsaw School of Economics. This formalisation of partnership demonstrates the universities’ commitment to further collaboration on:

  • exchange of research staff
  • exchange of students
  • conducting collaborative research projects
  • conducting lectures and organising symposia
  • exchange of research information and materials
  • promoting other research co-operation as mutually agreed.

Sharing the University of Glasgow’s civic purpose, SGH Warsaw School of Economics takes pride in being a socially responsible university with commitment to improving of the quality of life of societies, the operation of economies, and the advancement of civilisation.

The partnership also builds on the historic regional connections. Adam Smith Business School is a joint host of the Dekaban-Liddle Fellowship Programme, which facilitates academic exchange of expertise in areas of economic theory and practice between Polish and Scottish higher education institutions. Through this programme, in the past 10 years, we have hosted 15 fellows from SGH Warsaw School of Economics.

Alongside strengthening existing research links, the partnership aims to facilitate staff and student mobility, and learning and teaching collaborations. SGH Warsaw is composed of five subjects:

  1. Economic analysis
  2. Socio-economics
  3. World economy
  4. Business administration
  5. Management and finance.

Both parties are interested in exploring short-term (e.g., summer schools) and virtual (e.g., COIL) mobility opportunities and international degree collaborations, including PGRs.

As part of ongoing cooperation, Dr Belgin Okay-Somerville visited SGH Warsaw School of Economics in May 2023 to discuss future cooperation, areas of research collaboration and joint projects.

SGH Warsaw School of Economics (EQUIS, AMBA) is one of the leading universities of economics and finance in Europe. We look forward to building on the strong foundations of our relationship with future collaboration and sustained cooperation.
