The upcoming 17th CEA (Europe) and 36th CEA (UK) Annual Conference, hosted by the Chinese Economic Association (CEA) Europe/UK in collaboration with the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, will bring together academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore the transformative impact of digital technologies on economic structures.
With the theme "Digital Transformation and Economic Structural Change," the conference will examine how advancements in digital finance, artificial intelligence, big data, and sustainable finance are reshaping global economies, driving productivity, and fostering long-term, sustainable growth.
As economies undergo rapid digital transformation, integrating digital solutions into economic strategies is crucial for enhancing resource management, building resilient and sustainable supply chains, and promoting economic inclusivity. The conference will explore opportunities such as the potential of digital economies to support sustainable development and the role of renewable energy in the digital transition. At the same time, it will address pressing challenges, including equitable access to digital technologies, cybersecurity risks, and the environmental implications of digital expansion.
The conference will feature distinguished keynote speakers from leading institutions, offering insights on digital innovation and economic evolution. Participants will engage in discussions on economic policies supporting digital innovation, the role of fintech in economic growth, and the broader implications of digital transformation. Dedicated sessions for PhD students and job market candidates will provide emerging scholars with networking and career development opportunities, while an industry-focused session will foster collaboration between academia and the business sector. There will be an opportunity for further networking at a gala dinner which will take place on the evening of Wednesday 6th August.
Accepted papers will have the opportunity for publication in notable journals, including the Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies, Journal of Digital Economy, and Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, with further publication opportunities to be announced.
This conference will serve as a valuable platform for fostering meaningful dialogue, generating actionable insights, and shaping strategies for a balanced and inclusive approach to digital transformation, ensuring economic progress in an era of technological change.
