Biography
I am a veterinary epidemiologist carrying out inter-disciplinary research investigating livestock and zoonotic diseases, primarily in Africa. My research aims to provide insights on the burden, epidemiology and control of a wide range of infectious diseases across different agro-ecological systems, including wildlife-protected areas. I am involved in several graduate training initiatives with African partner institutions.
Research interests
Fellow of the Royal Society
The principal aim of our research is to understand the dynamics, impacts and implications of infections in natural ecosystems, with a focus on diseases in tropical countries.

Teaching
I am the director of the MSc in Conservation Management of African Ecosystems and coordinator of the course in Human Dimensions of Conservation, also teaching on elements of Protected Area Management.
I am coordinator of a final year undergraduate course on Disease Ecology, a 10-credit course within the Zoology BSc programme.
I teach aspects of disease ecology, One Health, zoonoses, and emerging diseases on several other undergraduate courses (BVMS Global health course, Veterinary Biosciences BSc, Microbiology BSc) and MSc courses (Food Security and Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law).
I deliver lectures on aspects of conservation management, including protected area management, sustainable utilisation of wildlife and human-wildlife conflict for L4 and L2 undergraduate teaching on the Zoology BSc.
