Biography

I graduated from the University of Cambridge Veterinary School in 2015 having also gained a bachelor’s degree in Experimental Psychology. My first-year post graduation was spent in the North Island of New Zealand working for the Ministry of Primary Industries. I conducted a variety of government veterinary work, however, was primarily based in a lamb slaughter and export facility working as an Official Veterinarian. I returned to the UK in 2016 to embark on a PhD at the University of Bristol, in which I explored the impacts of animal welfare training on the slaughter industry.

My main research interests include animal welfare at slaughter, human/animal interactions in the abattoir and technological enhancements for animal welfare monitoring and improvement in the meat industry.

In November 2022 I passed my board exams to because a Diplomate of the European College of Animal Welfare and Behaviour medicine, in the subspecialty Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law.
