Richard Phillips from the British Antarctic Survey is giving this year's Christmas Ornithology Lecture on the topic of "Research to understand and mitigate threats to pelagic seabirds; can we avoid being the albatrosses around their necks?". Earlier in the day we are arranging a workshop with Richard together with the Spatial Group with the theme of 'Hot topics and new technologies in seabird ecology'. In the workshop we will cover emerging topics in seabird ecology and discuss the strength and weaknesses of our current methods, including both field techniques and modelling.
