The GNHS and Institute invite submissions for the annual PhotoSCENE competition.
Published: 6 October 2016
The annual PhotoSCENE natural history photography competition is co-hosted by the Glasgow Natural History Society and the Institute, and aims to promote interest in natural history and the work of the Scottish Centre for Ecology & the Natural Environment (SCENE).
The GNHS and the Institute are holding another photographic competition this year. The aims of the competition are to promote interest in natural history and the work of SCENE (the University’s field-station at Rowardennan); promote a greater linkage between the Institute and the Society; and to provide photographs that can support our publicity, and to enrich the evening programme of GNHS.
£800 of prizes are available and winning entries will be published in the Glasgow Naturalist.
Entry is restricted to members of GNHS, and students and staff of the Institute (including affiliates and associates). Winning entries will be published in the Glasgow Naturalist. Entries should have been taken in the last two years to this date. All entries should be e-mailed to Lorna.Kennedy@glasgow.ac.uk before the deadline of 31st October 2016.
The competition results will be announced and prizes awarded at a members photographic night slide show as part of the GNHS Winter Meeting Programme on the evening of Tuesday February 14th 2017.
See www.glasgownaturalhistory.org.uk/photoscene.html for further details and to see winning photographs from earlier years. The winning images from the 2015/16 competition also featured on the Naturally Speaking blog.
