Meshach’s research focuses on the role of deforestation and reforestation programmes in Malaysia in the potential transmission of malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases amongst the local population.
Meshach Lee is a early career disease ecologist who, in 2021, graduated with a Zoology BSc at the University of Swansea. During his studies, Meshach focused on the effects of global change on the distribution of different mosquito species and its subsequent impact on disease.
Following his undergraduate degree, Meshach began working at Oxitec, a world-leading biotechnology company focusing on reducing the spread of mosquito-borne disease by suppressing the population of native and invasive species.
As a JMS scholar, Meshach’s research will focus on the role of deforestation and reforestation programmes in Malaysia in the potential transmission of malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases amongst the local population.
