Zaki El-Salahi is a British-Sudanese community educator and researcher from Edinburgh and East Oxford. Zaki is a member of The Sudanese Community in Edinburgh and an active campaigner with the Sudan Uprising Support Group Edinburgh.

Zaki’s interdisciplinary research project explores Sudanese identity development and contemporary community activism in Scotland, while uncovering Scotland’s colonial role in Sudan and its implications for social justice today. Zaki currently sits on The University of Edinburgh’s research & engagement working group, with a dual focus on Sudanese body parts/human remains held at Edinburgh and Reparations for the African diaspora in Edinburgh and Omdurman. Zaki’s PhD research project is titled ‘The New Black Scots? Community, Identity, and PanAfricanism within the Sudanese diaspora of Scotland’.
