To strengthen global health, biosecurity and pandemic preparedness through world-leading research, innovation, and training. We are a standing national capability for virus discovery, preparedness and response, enabling rapid progression from early detection to actionable innovations to tackle viral threats in the UK and worldwide.

    CVR’s Viro3D dataset integrated into the European Bioinformatics Institute & Goo

    Researchers at the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) have contributed one of the first large-scale community datasets to be integrated into the AlphaFold Protein Structure Database (AFDB), further strengthening global resources for viral research.

    UofG, UKHSA and Pirbright Institute forge strategic partnership to strengthen UK

    The University of Glasgow, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and The Pirbright Institute have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a strategic partnership which will ensure a collaborative approach to UK epidemic preparedness, advanced virology research and the training of future scientists.

    UofG to co-lead major new project on mosquitoes

    A major new project on mosquitoes, their viruses, and associated disease risks in Northern Ireland will be co-led by a multi-institutional team which includes the University of Glasgow, Queen’s University, Belfast and the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology.
