London, September 2016

In August and September, the three EPSRC funded Sandpit projects (WEFWEBs, Stepping Up and Vaccinating the Nexus) will be represented in a joint panel session at the RGS-IGB Annual Conference in London. The groups will oversee two linked sessions that take place on Thursday 1st September:

09:00 – 10:40am: Water, energy and food nexus: dealing with a wicked problem? (1) WEF Nexus thinking: UK and International perspectives

11:10 – 12:40pm: Water, energy and food nexus: dealing with a wicked problem? (2) WEF Nexus thinking: Methods for addressing wicked problems

In addition to presenters from across the three programmes, there are additional presentations from the EU SIM4NEXUS project, with Dragan Savic & Lydia Vamvakeridou-Lyroudia (University of Exeter) and Anthony Hurford (University of Manchester) discussing nexus infrastructure. The two sessions will cover a diverse range of nexus-centric topics, including data demands, methodologies and scale, infrastructure, shocks and policy/governance.
