The 6888th (the only black female battalion in WW2 deployed from the US to Europe), recently won a Congressional Gold Medal and has an award-winning documentary film about their inspiring history (sorting over 17 million pieces of mail between the fronts and homefront - motto "No mail, low morale" - while facing different challenges including sexism, racism, and the vagaries of war.

The Executive Producer of that documentary is coming over from the US, and has, in the last couple of days (!), confirmed arrangements to come to Glasgow as part of that in order to meet me (long story - I previously helped host a screening for them in 2019 and have supported their work since).

He is doing a screening and Q&A for UofG, which is going to happen in the Advanced Research Centre (ARC), on Monday 10th October, 5pm (or starting just after at 5.10). The film lasts 71 minutes and Q&A would follow it, so about a 7 pm finish.

It is a public event, and I would be delighted if you were able to join us - please register
