Yaprak Karabalci
Hi! My name is Yaprak, and I am a final year PhD student under the supervision of Mick and Lilya. I am developing a novel mouse model of Lewy body dementia to investigate the effects of α-synuclein overexpression on the hippocampus and primary visual cortex. I am also quite keen to understand how behavior patterns in mice are altered in response to aberrant levels of α-synuclein.
After graduating from university, I completed my master's degree with a scholarship from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. Following that, I was awarded a scholarship from the Ministry of National Education's General Directorate of Higher Education and Overseas Education of the Republic of Turkey to pursue my PhD at the University of Glasgow.
When I am not working in the lab, I enjoy being outdoors and trying out new recipes.
