Dr Rhona McGonigal
I am a senior post-doctoral researcher and member of the newly formed Translational Neuroinflammation group. I have many years of experience developing and characterising ex vivo and in vivo models in the field of immune-mediated peripheral neuropathy. I used these models to trial and assess therapeutic interventions, some of which are now undergoing clinical trial. In this field I have published many articles, received grant funding and been awarded prizes for conference presentation. I now hope to use this experience to study the networks activated by neuroinflammation and how this links to behavioural changes related to human sickness behaviours.
In addition to my research role, I am a member of the School ECR committee, Eco group, I sit on the AWERB panel, and supervise PhD and undergraduate students.
