Dr Mick Craig
Mick Craig is a Senior Lecturer in Neuroscience, based in the Centre for Neuroscience in the School of Psychology & Neuroscience. Mick's research group uses a systems neuroscience approach (anatomy, electrophysiology in slices and in vivo, behaviour) to study neural circuitry underlying mood, memory and decision-making in health and disease.
His group uses a variety of animal models of disease, with projects spanning dementia, genetic risk of schizophrenia and anhedonic depression. The conditions all affect the same underlying brain circuits, including prefrontal cortex, hippocampus and midline thalamus. By understanding how different conditions differentially alter network celullar and synaptic connectiviy in particular brain regions, his team also hope also to gain insights into how these regions interact in the healthy brain.
Outside of work, Mick can be found running, in the kitchen, making music or, most likely, hanging out with his two kids and doing something nerdy or sporty.
