Keynote Speaker Spotlight: Professor Morag Treanor

At the forefront of the conversation, Professor Morag Treanor, Professor of Social Policy and Inequality at the University of Glasgow, will deliver a keynote address that draws upon her extensive expertise in social policy and unwavering commitment to combating inequality.

Morag has worked with Aberlour on the issue of poverty for many years, culminating in a compelling report highlighting the detrimental impact of public debt on low-income families in Scotland.

Morag's research focus is on poverty, socioeconomic inequalities, and destitution, particularly where they pertain to children, young people and families. Morag was Deputy Chair of the Scottish Government's Poverty and Inequality Commission from June 2019 to July 2023, and a member of The Promise Oversight Board from 2021 to 2024.

Voices That Matter: Workshops on Lived Experience and Policy Solutions

This conference emphasises the real stories of children and families affected by public debt. Through Aberlour’s "Unheard Voices and Gendered Impact" workshops, attendees will gain insight into the personal toll of debt.

The Centre for Public policy will also be hosting a workshop on multi-level governance and poverty, with more details to follow.
