We investigate how microbes in natural environments control the form and fate of heavy metals and other elements important for life and ecosystem health.
about us
Our research addresses questions involving microbial evolution and ecology, biogeochemical cycling of major and trace elements, and microbe-mineral interactions. We are particularly interested in understanding the links across environmental microbiomes and human, ecosystem, and planetary health.
Applications of our work include remediating industrial pollution and mitigating climate change impacts.
