Modelling and computation of complex problems at multiple length and time scales
Multiscale analysis for mechanical problems has received significant attention over the last two decades. Multiscale methods allow complex microstructure to be represented directly and linked to the macroscopic response and thereby bypassing ad-hoc constitutive relations.
This is the focus of considerable research in the GCEC, including:
- Optimal schemes (staggered and monolithic) and decomposition methods
- Model reduction methods
- Coupled multi-field problems
