Software Upskilling for Researchers: Git workshop
The first workshop in the SUfRs series covers the fundamentals of Git followed by a hands-on tutorial. Come along if you'd like to know why version control matters for researchers and keep your collaboration skills sharp!
Note that this session is open to all, but there are some recommended prerequisite materials that need to be completed before the session to get the most out of the second hands-on tutorial:
- Required: Join the Moodle page with password git_uog : https://moodle.gla.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=41115
- Optional: Get a GitHub account, download git, download GitHub desktop if using (information for all this is in Unit 1)
However, keep in mind that this is not an intensive hands-on course and the first part to the session is accessible to all without completing the prerequisite material. We don't mind if you wish to only attend the first part of the session to get a feel for what Git is all about. Participants are also welcome to try to do some aspects of the course while we are talking!
We welcome researchers from any college across the university at any skill level.
