Imaginative Content

Sensuously imagining that something is the case has two elements: the image, and the specification of the imaginative project within which the mental image plays the role. The paper will focus on the relationship between these two elements. For example, in what way does the image lay down the conditions of success for the project? How, or whether, the same image can play a role in different imaginative projects? What kind of things can be sensuously imagined, and what not, and how does this relate to, potentially similar questions about what properties can be perceived?  What is the relationship between the content of the image and the content of the imagining? In the light of answer to these, and related questions, the paper will evaluate whether representationalism about phenomenal content can account for phenomenal imaginative content.
