The Critical Technologies Accelerator (CTA)

The Critical Technologies Accelerator (CTA) develops and de-risks cutting-edge nano-scale technologies for a range of commercial partners. This is achieved through support from the University of Glasgow's James Watt Nanofabrication Centre.

Through this programme, a team of highly skilled engineers work together to design, fabricate and test technologies that could sit at the heart of next-generation communication systems, medical sensors and quantum computers.

Currently there are five specific projects, each working with at least one industry partner focussing on a key emerging application. These projects have clear activities, milestones and deliverables that target the development of new photonic and quantum systems and build on existing capabilities in the industrial partners to establish a supply chain for commercial products.

The CTA is a great example of how the development of next-generation technology will support jobs, growth and productivity across Scotland.
