5 & 6 December 2014, Royal Society of Edinburgh, Edinburgh

Ethnology Crossroads is a conference which celebrates the work of the European Ethnological Research Centre at the Universit of Edinburgh since its founding in 1989, the completion of its 14-volume COMPENDIUM OF SCOTTISH ETHNOLOGY, and its current projects.  It will explore new directions, interdisciplinary interconnections and the place of Scottish Ethnology within a European context.  Much of the vision of for the activities of the EERC was inspired by models from Hungary, a country and culture with which its founder, professor Alexander Fenton (1929-2012), had a keen interest and close connections, as he did with other countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
