A two-day Workshop on Polish-English Translation with a focus on strategies and practical approaches will be held at the University of Glasgow in March.

This two-day event including workshops and seminars aims at developing students and researchers’ awareness and practical skills regarding various methods of translation and approaches to the translation process.  It focuses on sharing experience and good practice among students and professionals regarding translation for research purposes.

All the participants are invited to stay throughout the whole event in order to exchange knowledge and various practices.  Selected materials resulting from the event will be published on-line or on designated Moodle pages. The event will  be of value to students and researchers in both areas: Social Sciences as well as Arts and Humanities.  

There will be a host of guest speakers over the course of the workshop, including Antonia Lloyd-Jones, Adam Czerniawski, Dr Dortha Holowiak, Dr Elwire Grossman, Dr John Bates and Dr Piotr Kuhiwczak. The workshop is dedicated to the memory of Jan Stepek (1922-2012), patriot and philanthropist, who funded a degree in Polish culture and language at Glasgow University and the annual Polonia lecture on Polish current affairs at the University of Strathclyde.
