To celebrate Latvia's Independence a number of events have been organised as part of the CRCEES Winter Festival. 09-28 November, 2008
To celebrate Latvia's Independence a number of events have been organised as part of the CRCEES Winter Festival.
Events include a number of Latvian films, a musical performance by Valdis Muktupāvels and academic seminars at the University of Glasgow.
Celebrating 90 Years since Latvia's Independence
To celebrate Latvia's Independence a number of events have been organised as part of the CRCEES Winter Festival.
Events include a number of Latvian films (subtitled in English) at the G12 Cinema that are free admission.
There's a lecture and musical performance by Valdis Muktupāvels, who is a key figure in the modern folklore movement in Latvia.
Finally, a series of academic seminars at the University:
• The Role of Culture in Nation Branding, and
• Ninety Years since Independence: Evaluating Latvia's Past and Present

To attend the free Latvian ethnic music event, which will take place: 5.30-7.00pm on 28th November, please contact Ann Mulholland (CRCEES Administrator) by Thursday 27 November, 2008.
The Ethnomusicology Performance and Workshop by Valdis Muktupāvels (university of Latvia) will take place in the Humanities Main Lecture Theatre, Main Building of the University of Glasgow.
