Inequality, conflict and violence
Dr Theodore Koutmeridis, has been awarded a prestigious British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award (BARSEA) for his interdisciplinary project on "Inequality, Conflict and Violence", which connects economics to applied social science research methods and evidence-based policymaking on the pressing issues of socio-economic inequality, criminal behaviour, conflict and violence.
Dr Koutmeridis is a Lecturer in Economics at the Adam Smith Business School at Glasgow and will form an Early Career Network on "Inequality, Conflict and Violence" to facilitate the exchange of ideas across young scholars and established experts from the academic, the business and the policy worlds. This BARSEA grant is associated with the interdisciplinary research network Behaviour, Structure and Interventions (BSI), which is coordinated jointly by the Dean of Interdisciplinarity and Impact, Professor Sayantan Ghosal, and Dr Theodore Koutmeridis.

This event is associated with the ‘Behaviour, Structure and Interventions’ (BSI) research network, the BARSEA Early Career Network on ‘Inequality Conflict and Violence’, the Royal Society of Edinburgh and its Young Academy of Scotland. This workshop focuses on ‘Disadvantage’ and its links to RCUK ‘Global Challenges Research Fund’ priorities. Among others the workshop includes presentations on inequality, crime and sustainability.

Workshop 2 - Health Challenges
Held: 4th and 5th June 2018
This workshop focuses on ‘Health Challenges’ from an interdisciplinary perspective and its links to RCUK ‘Global Challenges Research Fund’ priorities. Among others the workshop includes presentations on fraud, inequality, and policy interventions based on behavioural insights. The workshop would be of particular interest to PhD students and academics who focus not only on research but also on impact, policy and knowledge exchange.

Workshop 3 - Crime and Policing
Held: 15th and 16th November 2018
The Centre for Economic Performance at LSE and the University of Glasgow are co-hosting a workshop on "the Economics of Crime and Policing". The aim of the workshop is to bring people together that work empirically or theoretically on issues of crime and policing, or other issues relating to illegal behavior.
