Behavioural neuroscience seeks to understand the neural processes underlying thinking, emotions and actions. We use an array of sophisticated recording methods to observe neural activity, and test what animals know using tasks such as navigating to a goal or making a decision between two opposing choices. To check our understanding we can then modulate the neural activity to see if the behaviour changes in a predictable way. Here at UofG we are particularly interested in visual and spatial processing, decision-making (such as during navigation) and pain processing/behaviour.
