Projects carried out by the Centre for Battlefield Archaeology

Since 2000 the Centre for Battlefield Archaeology have carried out a number of projects on battlefields and other sites of conflict in the United Kingdom and overseas, including France, Belgium, Libya, South Africa and South America. The Centre has the ability to engage successfully in commercial and research projects working in both the private and public sector. The Centre has recently worked closely with public bodies including the Australian Government, Historic Scotland, the National Trust for Scotland and Highland Council.

Fort William and Inverlochy 2007

The project focused on three main areas, the Parade in the town centre, the remaining walls of the fort, and the Battle of Inverlochy, 1645.

Culloden

Culloden may have been the last battle of the Jacobite risings, but it was also the first battlefield in Scotland to be subject to archaeological investigation.

Prestonpans

The Battle of Prestonpans Archaeology Project is the first investigation to focus solely on the archaeology of this important battle
