Registration is now open for the forthcoming Unfolding Our Shared Future, Political Studies Association panel event, taking place at the University of Glasgow on Tuesday 14 November.

This talk is part of a series, titled ‘Unfolding Our Shared Future’, which is delivered by the American Politics Group of the Political Studies Association and host universities with the support of the British Association of American Studies and US Embassy in London.

"The Challenge of Regulating the Virtual World: AI, the Internet and the Future" is co-hosted at the University of Glasgow by the College of Arts & Humanities; the Andrew Hook Centre for American Studies, and the Scottish Council on Global Affairs.

Awareness of the risks presented by AI in our networked world is growing. The issues raised are technical, but with philosophical and constitutional layers, and potentially raise questions about how societies construct and defend the narrative of their own existence.

These matters are so urgent that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will host a Global Summit on AI in November of this year. Our experts will address the outcomes of the Summit, the global regulation of AI, the impact of AI within the context of global environmental and climate challenges, and how developments in AI are shaping national and international actions on cyberthreats and cyberdeterrence.

Chairing this exciting discussion is Professor Philip Schlesinger: Professor in Cultural Theory at the University of Glasgow. The panel features Stephanie Hare: Researcher, Broadcaster and, Author, and Zoe Kleinman: BBC presenter and Technology Editor.
