Join storyteller and drama education researcher Dr Jennifer Kitchen for a pair of seasonal stories inspired by folktales, literature and the changing seasons suitable for folks of all ages from 3 upwards. Strawberries in Winter is an Eastern European folktale that explores the gifts and challenges of the winter, while an accessible retelling of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale looks at opportunities for reflection, celebration and togetherness in the colder months.
Based on her research into active and playful approaches to teaching Shakespeare (Teaching and Learning Shakespeare Through Theatre-Based Practice Arden Shakespeare, 2024 and Critical Pedagogy and Active Shakespeare Cambridge University Press, 2023) and experience as a drama practitioner (Discover Children’s Storytelling Centre, Shakespeare’s Globe, Cairngorms Connect, Bury St Edmunds Theatre Royal and schools and nurseries across the UK) Jennifer’s stories use interactive and inclusive techniques to engage audiences of all ages.
