PARTICIPATORY SYSTEMS MAPPING FOR POPULATION HEALTH RESEARCH, POLICY AND PRACTICE: GUIDANCE ON METHOD CHOICE AND DESIGN
New guidance on the choice and design of participatory systems mapping methods in population health research, policy and practice has been developed by an interdisciplinary collaboration of multiple UK research institutions, in consultation with experts from around the world. The guidance introduces the new Participatory Systems Mapping Design Framework.
The guidance provides:
- An introduction to fundamental concepts in participatory systems mapping
- Insights on, and comparisons of, different participatory systems mapping approaches as they relate to the population health domain
- Recommendations for enhancing stakeholder involvement in systems mapping
- Indicative case studies, further reading and resources
- Key areas for future research and development
This research was funded by the UKRI Medical Research Council (MRC).
Additional staff time was funded by grants from the Chief Scientist Office of the Scottish Government Health Directorate, and by a UKRI ESRC grant. Collaborating institutions include the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit (University of Glasgow), the MRC Epidemiology Unit (University of Cambridge), CECAN (University of Surrey), and the SIPHER Consortium.
