Short Description
Students will be provided with background knowledge and skills on how to prepare athletes for sport including preparation of teams and individuals. Students will be provided with a critical understanding of various approaches required for athletes to perform well and the challenges they might face delivering sport and exercise medicine in practice.

Course Aims
This course aims to provide students with background knowledge and skill on how to prepare athletes for sport including preparation of teams and individuals. Students will be provided with a critical understanding of various approaches required for athletes to perform well and the evidence base surrounding these. They will gain knowledge and understanding in the challenges they might face delivering sport and exercise medicine in practice.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Critically understand and appraise the role of antidoping and drugs in sport
2. Critically evaluate the medicolegal aspects of sports medicine practice including restrictions and legal ramifications of practice
3. Critically evaluate preparation strategies for individuals and teams
4. Explore practical strategies needed to prepare athletes for optimal sporting performance
5. Effectively and concisely communicate evidence-based strategies for optimal sporting performance
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
