Assessment
The dissertation assessment will consist of the following components:
Student's written report (80%). A written report of 6,000-8,000 words
Oral presentation (20%). A presentation of the project followed by viva style questions to an audience consisting of fellow students and project supervisors.
Course Aims
The aims of this course are
■ To provide participants with the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills gained on the One Health programme
■ To carryout original research, to review and critique scientific and other literature, collate and analyse data from a wide range of potentially disparate resources, interpret the findings of these analyses, present and communicate these findings effectively to a mixed audience
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
Combined ILO's (as requested by supercluster)
■ Critically design, plan and complete an investigation of a focused research question or a problem related to their MSc in One Health
■ Develop and apply a strategic, methodical approach to selecting and searching relevant bibliographic databases and other sources of relevant information
■ Critically evaluate scientific literature and prior research
■ For investigative projects, conduct original research to test a specific hypothesis and analyse the findings and draw specific conclusions
■ Formulate reasoned judgements based on available evidence;
■ Discuss findings in the context of prior and future research;
■ Write a clear and cogent report in an appropriate format;
■ Give a clear, well-constructed oral presentation describing their research to their peers.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
