Main Assessment In: April/May
Course Aims
This course aims to provide students with an opportunity to develop their skills in independent laboratory work, experimental design and time management.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ use appropriate databases and internet-based resources to design, and then validate in the laboratory, a PCR-based assay for a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP);
■ plan and execute effective laboratory protocols;
■ with critical reference to the relevant literature, generate a concise laboratory report.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75 % by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
