Course Aims

To familiarise the student with the management methods and techniques most commonly used to plan, organise and control projects.

 

Two key attributes of project management are critical thinking and effective decision making. These are transferable skills which are taught throughout the course using case studies and practical examples of recent relevant projects managed by the course lecturer.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

1. Identify the stages of the project lifecycle and evaluate the value of the tools and techniques that are used in each stage.

2. Develop and evaluate project plans on the basis of timing, cost and risk.

3. Critically evaluate the project management process as it is applied within the workplace.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
