Short Description

Managing Cultural Change in Organisations is an introduction to a range of practical frameworks, theories and literature related to the practice of designing and implementing a suitable cultural change management plan to support the strategic intentions of an organisation. The course provides a solid basis for students developing practical consultancy skills relative to the applied practice of cultural change management.

9 x 2 hours per week.  (1 hour of lecture followed by 1 hour of workshop).

Assessment

The assessment is an individual assignment. Students will be given an assignment briefing document and the assessment criteria based on the intended learning outcomes. Descriptions and grade category of each criterion will be given.

Course Aims

Within the current volatile business environment, this course aims to provide students with insights into the impact of organisational culture on strategic business outcomes. It will provide students with an understanding of how to analyse, plan, lead and design cultural change interventions and to evaluate the success of these interventions. Furthermore, this course aims to equip students with the understanding of the process of culture change management and the consultancy skills relative to the practice of culture change management.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

1. To evaluate the applied value of a range of cultural change management methodologies and identify relevant theory that can inform and support their application to practical situations.

 

2. To be able to analyse organisational culture connecting its relationship to business performance and strategic change.

 

3. To synthesis all the learnings provided throughout the course so as to be able to identify skills development needs for cultural change leaders

 

4. Analyse a case study to create a change management consultancy report recommending for application  with evidence based justifications techniques learnt in class to be part of a cultural change management plan.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
