Timetable
Trainees attend three half days of lectures on the topics of professional issues in clinical psychology.
Trainees also use some private study time on weekly study days to review these areas. Trainees also learn about issues of professional practice as they complete clinical placements. And clinical supervisors are encouraged to discuss and review professional issues with the trainees during clinical supervision sessions.
Assessment
Summative assessment: Oral presentations are group based. Trainees are invited to comment on their colleagues contributions, whihc are assessed.
All trainees are supervised by NHS Clinical Psychologists on a weekly basis (clinical supervision). Trainees complete a reflective portfolio of clinical experience, which is a log of all clinical cases treated, assessment methods used, formulation and intervention strategies employed, etc. This record is discussed with supervisors in clinical supervision, and helps trainee and supervisor identify any potential areas of clinical weakness, which can be addressed in current/future placements. Trainees must, during reflective analysis and clinical case discussions, show to the satisfaction of the supervisor that they meet all the intended learning outcomes of the course.
Trainees are required to complete all summative and formative course assessments.
