Short Description
Corporate insolvency is concerned with understanding the causes of company financial distress, crisis and failure and the options available for managing distress. The course focuses predominantly on formal insolvency processes in the UK, but also explores international variation and similarities in frameworks for resolving corporate failure.

Course Aims
The course aims to provide students with knowledge relating to both the lead into organisational financial crisis and the options available for managing and resolving corporate failure.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Assess how causes of corporate failure and distress impact on recovery options and the stages of the turnaround process.
2. Evaluate the different corporate insolvency procedures and restructuring processes available to financially distressed companies from a theoretical and practical perspective.
3. Evaluate developments in insolvency practice and law internationally.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
