Short Description

This course introduces the theories and practices of innovation and technology management in a global changing context. Students will have the opportunity of examining the potential impact of technology in businesses and organisations.

Course Aims

This course aims to:

■ Provide students with analytic frameworks for managing business developments.

■ Examine the patterns and sources of environmental and technological change and the mechanisms for capturing economic and social benefits from innovation.

■ Discuss different types of technology driven innovation, new trends, data driven business models and approaches.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

1. Critically discuss the role of innovation, learning and knowledge in creating competitive advantage for organisations.

2. Evaluate critical theories, concepts, models of innovation in global context.

3. Develop and evaluate a business development solution to address a given business issue.

4. Critically reflect on the notion of a business development manager.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
