Short Description
The dissertation is an independent, original piece of writing (10,000-12,000 words) on a topic of candidates' choice within their own track.

A 10,000-12,000-word dissertation.
Course Aims
This course aims to:
1. Allow students to select a topic of their own choice (compatible with the chosen track).
2. Help students to consolidate and apply the knowledge acquired during the programme.
3. Enable students to develop their own critical thinking on a research question of their choice.
4. Develop a multivariate set of skills ranging from formulating a research question, literature research, data collection (if any), data analysis and interpretation (if any).
5. Engage students in an independent original piece of work at postgraduate level.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Identify and define a current research gap in literature or an open problem that can be properly analysed in the given time frame.
2. Formulate appropriate research question(s) and hypotheses to be tested or addressed in their dissertation.
3. Apply the most suitable methodological approach to tackle the research question(s).
4. Evaluate results and discuss implications.
5. Design an independent, original, and structured piece of work in line with the university guidelines (i.e., length, layout, citations and bibliography).
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
