Short Description
This course will facilitate students to determine the nutrient requirements of small pet animals and how diet plays a role in health and disease.

Course Aims
The course will enable students to ascertain the nutritional requirements of small pet animals and how diet impacts on health and disease.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ Determine and outline the factors that affect the nutrient requirements of small and exotic animals;
■ Critically evaluate the properties and roles of different types of pet food;
■ Examine the role of diet in relation to animal health, wellbeing and disease.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
