FAQ
1. How are scholarships distributed?
Students worldwide are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The Consortium can award up to 90 scholarships across four student intakes:
- Edition 1: 2023-2025
- Edition 2: 2024-2026
- Edition 3: 2025-2027
- Edition 4: 2026-2028
The Programme can offer up to 60 regular scholarships and up to 30 targeted scholarships across the four Editions. The maximum number of scholarships awarded to any single nationality is 6 (10%) over the four intakes. Targeted scholarships are financed by the EU’s external action instruments and are aimed at specific regions. The geographical limit of 10% does not apply to these targeted scholarships. The targeted regions, as specified by the European Commission, include regions 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. 2. When will the scholarship results be announced?
Scholarship results are announced in April each year. Please see scholarship timeline below:
- 1 October 2024 – Applications open on the UofG application portal
- 24th January 2025 – Scholarship applications deadline
- April 2025 – Scholarship applications decisions are sent
- July 2025 – Deadline for self-funded international applicants
- August 2025 – Deadline for self-funded UK applicants
3. Can I appeal the scholarship decision?
Unsuccessful applicants can appeal within 2 weeks (14 days) from the date you receive the Committee’s decision.
You may appeal only if there was a defect or unfairness in the procedure followed by the Committee.
To submit your appeal, please email edumah@glasgow.ac.uk with the subject line ‘EDUMAH Scholarship Appeal.’ Your appeal will not be considered unless ou follow these instructions. Your email should clearly outline the reasons for your appeal.
4. Can I work whilst enrolled on the programme?
This is very much dependant on your visa regulations. The Consortium does not recommend work alongside your studies due to the demands of the programme.
5. Will I be able to apply for the UK Graduate Route Visa after completion of my studies?
Students who obtain a Standard Visitor Visa will not be eligible for the graduate route visa. Further information can be found here.
6. What visa options are available to me?
For the UK, you can apply for a Standard Visitor Visa (valid for up to six months).
7. Do I need to pay any costs associated with my mobility periods?
All students are responsible for their own mobility plans. This includes covering the cost of your travel to and from mobilities, visa costs and accommodation. Scholarship students will receive a monthly subsistence payment to support these costs. See Scholarship page for further information.
8. When do I receive information about Semester 2 and 3 mobilities?
Students will receive detailed visa instructions for their Semester 2 mobility partner in October and in March for their Semester 3 mobility. Additional further information can be found on each Partner site on the mobility section of the website.
9. Will I be covered for insurance during my time on the programme?
All students receive Erasmus Mundus Travel Insurance, provided by AIG. This insurance will be valid for the duration of the two-year programme. Details of the policy can be found here.
Students should note that this insurance only covers travel on University business, i.e. travel related to their studies (e.g. overseas mobilities, fieldtrips etc). Any travel not related to their studies (e.g. returning home, holidays) is not covered.
Students are also required to register all trips related to their studies, including all mobilities, on the University of Glasgow TRICAP insurance portal. See link here.
The travel insurance provides emergency medical cover only but covers postgraduate students, accompanying spouses/partners and children for a maximum period of 12 months on any one trip.
10. Do I need to supply hard copies of documentation at any point during my studies?
Please refer to the mobility section of each Consortium Partner for required documents.
11. Will I be guaranteed my preferred mobility pathway?
The Consortium will do their best to ensure students receive their first preferred pathway but students should be aware that their first pathway is not automatically approved and may need to complete another pathway.
