Sponsoring a PhD studentship
The opportunity to sponsor a PhD project:
- Studentships are 4 years in duration. Part of the 1st year is taught (MSc equivalent)
- Opportunity to influence research innovation in an area of interest to you
- Sponsorship comes with automatic entitlement for a representative from your organisation to be part of the Industrial Advisory Board and/or the CDT Management Board
- Opportunity to propose research projects and/or training
- The PhD researcher is either mainly university-based, with secondment opportunities with their sponsoring industrial partner, or mainly industry-based.
- Cost-effective approach for influencing newest research and recruiting specialist postgraduate staff
- Partial sponsorship opportunities available
Participation in External Partner engagement activities
- Participate at our External Partner Hub, which provides flexibility for external partners to network and jointly match fund or part fund studentships or training within the CDT, with the opportunity to propose PhD projects and influence the direction of our research.
- Attend and/or present at our Industry Day Events
- Network with our team of industrial partners and researchers
- Influence collaborative research projects in an area of interest to you
- Participate in Knowledge Exchange opportunities
- Continuous Professional Development opportunities
Other ways to collaborate with us
There are a number of other ways we welcome engagement with industry, and we're keen to hear about other suggestions as well.
- Provision of short (1-3 month) research projects that could be offered as internships, either hosted at your workplace or within the University
- Co-development and delivery of a training course on mathematical and statistical techniques, or application areas
- Sending employees to participate in training courses on relevant mathematical and statistical techniques
- Attendance at application area-specific workshops or the annual CDT conference
- Careers advice and post-PhD placements for PGR researchers
- Funding of presentation, poster, thesis prizes for CDT PhD students
- Employee enrolment as full or part-time PhD students within the CDT
