After living in Australia for most of my life, I moved to the UK to study for my undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. I learnt to row, joining my college’s boat club committee after my first year. I took my studies further by completing my MSc in Advanced Biological Sciences at the University of Exeter, including a synthetic biology research project on engineering bioplastic biosynthesis in bacteria. I enjoyed spending my free time bouldering with the Calisthenics society.
I’m now living in Glasgow, studying jointly at the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde for my PhD in Biochemistry & Biotechnology, fully funded by the North West Bio DTP program. My project is in the field of plant photobiology, where I’m investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying plant phototropism using a combined approach of microscopy and molecular microbiology.
