About Me: I am currently a PhD student at Queen's University Belfast with a background in Microbiology. My academic journey has taken me through various aspects of molecular biology and biotechnology, where I've developed a strong passion for research and discovery. Outside the lab, I enjoy hiking and photography, which help me maintain a balanced and well-rounded lifestyle.
Research Interests and PhD Project: My research focuses on the development of a real-time air monitoring system for pathogens. I am particularly interested in air surveillance in the care home. My PhD project aims to develop a biosensor integrated with air sampling technologies and investigate the impact of Aspergillus/SARS-CoV-2 and influenza co-infection on fungal/viral infection. This project will not only improve our ability to detect airborne pathogens but will also deepen our understanding of air-associated infection pathways, and the interactions between different pathogens, ultimately improving infection control practices in both clinical and non-clinical settings.
