Research title: Ownership and cultural constraints: the pain point of digital innovation in Chinese newspaper organisations
Research Summary
Wei's doctoral research primarily explores how the agency mechanism of media ownership in China influences the digital innovation behavior of news publishers. By dissecting the delegation chain of state ownership, the study identifies the "agency owner" as a key entity and conducts a comparative analysis based on case studies. This research further refines the current academic discussion regarding state ownership, providing firsthand emprical data that validate the significant impact of agency owners on the innovation capacity and willingness of the news media they oversee.
