Research title: The integration of tourism governance into the wider urban agenda.

Research Summary

The aim of my PhD research is to critically analyze the current state of urban tourism governance in four European city destinations in order to develop an optimized governance framework that ensures the effective integration of tourism policy making into the management of urban areas.

With my research I aim to contribute to the understanding of the optimal position of tourism in the future of urban systems. By identifying success and failure factors enabling or preventing integrated urban tourism policy design and implementation, I hope to form new foundations for the understanding of the complex relationships between tourism and urbanity.
