Research title: An Investigation into Distribution of Random Functions and Model-Based Clustering for Functional Data
Research Summary
My research deals with coming up with a new and efficient method of clustering functional data.
Earlier approaches of model based clustering of functional data extensively involved dimension
reduction. Though this is an efficient method of clustering the data, this has the disadvantage of loss of
information. This research is expected to result in a new method of clustering functional data, depending
on their distribution. In addition to avoiding the problem of loss of information, this research can also open
new dimensions of carrying out statistical inferences with functional data.
