The University of Glasgow has improved across several areas in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2024.

The University now ranks inside the world top 100 in six out of 11 subject areas, with Law rising into the top 50 worldwide. In this year’s rankings, five subject areas improve, four remain unchanged and two fall slightly.

The THE Rankings by Subject show performance against 11 broad academic areas. They are compiled with the same data and performance indicators that make up the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, in which the University placed 87th globally, with the methodology recalibrated for each individual field.

Rachel Sandison, Deputy Vice Chancellor (External Engagement) and Vice Principal (External Relations), said: “We are delighted to see such a strong showing in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject. In an ever more competitive global higher education environment results such as these show that the University continues to perform strongly across teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.

“League tables, like the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, drive our global reputation, which in turn underpins our continued ability to recruit world-class students and colleagues and are also vital in helping us to secure key strategic partnerships and funding across the sector.

“As always, I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to all the colleagues whose hard work and dedication has resulted in yet another impressive performance in a global league table this year.”
