She was welcomed by the University's Principal, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli; Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, Senior Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences; Dr Carol Clugston, Chief Operating Office for MVLS; and Ms Jane Grant, the Chief Executive of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
As well as touring ICE and seeing facilities including the 7 Tesla MRI Scanner and the MRI Coil laboratory, the Cabinet Secretary was also briefed on the major developments being led by the University of Glasgow in Precision Medicine.
Professor Dominiczak said: "It was a great pleasure to welcome the Cabinet Secretary and to outline in some detail the progress that is being made in Precision Medicine. Scotland is uniquely well placed to deliver major savings to the NHS and to provide more appropriate, timely and successful treatment to patients across a range of conditions and illnesses. We look forward to working very closely with the Scottish Government, the NHS, colleagues in other universities and with industry to deliver on the tremendous potential that Precision Medicine offers."
